About The Sanctuary

Kumbhalgarh Sanctuary covers a total area of 578 kilometres over the landscape of the desert. The sanctuary acts as a home to the rarely found wolf. Approximately 40 wolves can be seen in the park. Though the ideal time to visit the sanctuary is during the winter months but the chances of spotting animals is during the summers. In case you have the ability to bear the heat, come over to catch a glimpse of the animals that gather near the water holes.

Kumbhalgarh Sanctuary functions as a home to a number of animals. Endangered or rare and unique species, both are found here. Wolf is the major attraction amongst the other animals that inhabit the park. These include leopards, nilgai, jackal, jungle cat, sloth bear, four-horned antelope, chinkara, hyena, sambhar and hare.

Bird life that exists in the park is equally vivid. Grey jungle fowl, parakeets, peacocks, grey pigeons, golden oriole, dove, bulbul and white breasted kingfisher are a few names to mention that are observed in the sanctuary.

Kumbhalgarh is accessible through a well developed network of roads from Udaipur which is just 90 kilometres off Kumbhalgarh. Regular buses and private taxis are available to Kumbhalgarh from Udaipur City.
